MC Helix Instructions for Professors

The MC Helix System is set up to deliver digital video to your classes. In order to use the Helix service, you must get legal copies of the video to Laura Little (302 Mills Hall). Please bring the completed Helix Inventory Form with you when you drop off your video.

Once the video has been digitized, follow these steps to put the video into your WebCT class. In order to use the MC Helix system and comply with applicable laws, you MUST use it as part of WebCT.

  1. Log into http://helix.marietta.edu with your MC username and password (the same one you use to get email)
  2. Click "Search" and use "requester ID" of "your MC username". Or you should be able to click the "List Mine" button.
  3. You'll see a list of movies. Click the "+" sign next to the one you want to add to your WebCT class.
  4. Click the "more info" link below the description.
  5. Copy the HTML code (from the HTML code window).
  6. Log into WebCT. (See how.)
  7. Go to the page that your students will access the clips from. It’s a good idea to make an organizer page called “Audio Material” or “Videos” so that your students will know where to access them.
  8. Click “Add Upper Textblock.”
  9. In the “Text Heading” area, type a description for the clip.
  10. In the “Text” area, paste the HTML code you copied from MCHelix.
  11. Click the “Update” button at the bottom of the page.
