  Letter to the Editor policy

The Marcolian welcomes contributions from our readers in the form of Letters to the Editor. All submissions should be placed in the box outside the Marcolian office in the McKinney Mass Media Center or e-mailed to marc@marietta.edu.

Letters to the editor

The "Letter to the Editor" section of the Viewpoints page is the forum for individuals to write letters concerning our paper's content as well as campus, community, state, national and international issues.

Letters should be 300 words or less.  The Marcolian reserves the right to edit letters that exceed this limit.  The deadline for submitting letters is 5 p.m. Monday. Letters are printed on a first-come, first-serve basis. All letters must be signed and include a phone number for verification purposes. The phone number will not be published. Letters received after the deadline will be held for the next issue.

Other policies

•  The Marcolian reserves the right to refuse or hold any submission.

•  All submissions become the property of The Marcolian and cannot be returned.

•  Opinions expressed in letters or columns, as well as any other opinion piece are solely the opinion of that author and not necessarily the opinion of the staff or editors of The Marcolian, or Marietta College.

•  Publication of an opinion does not imply an endorsement by The Marcolian.

•  Anonymous Letters to the Editor will be automatically rejected.

•  Letters to the Editor should be written in a manner that acknowledges opposing views.  Respect for others should be paramount.

•  Letters to the Editor should not exceed 400 words.
