Cafe AHhh; IMC Concert coming up
By JASON E. WEBER
weberj@marietta.edu
Looking for some weekend fun? Well, if the drag show or the play aren’t your thing, or if CUB doesn’t have something coming up that will tickle your fancy, perhaps the Independent Musician’s Council or the Arts and Humanities Council might.
This Saturday at 10:30 p.m. the Arts and Humanities council will be holding one of thier quasi-monthly open-mic nights, lovingly called, Cafe AHhh at the A&H house at the corner of Fourth and Butler. Carrying on a tradition since 1997, the club will have thier next one following the theatre’s production of ‘Quills.’ They invite anyone interested to attend and bring a friend. There will be plenty of opportunity for people to perform poems (orginal or not), songs (a capella or accompianied), skits (planned or improved), or anything else. If you are bored you may wish to check out this event that has become such an important part of the arts community at Marietta.
Also with room picks just around the corner attending Cafe AHhh may just encourage you to live in the A&H house. They will be having an informational meeting regarding room picks on Sunday at 10:30 p.m., following the last performance of ‘Quills.’ Watch your e-mail for an announcement.
For more information on Cafe AHhh or A&H room picks contact council presidents Jason E. Weber, weberj@marietta.edu, or Cate Weber, weberm@marietta.edu.
A little later on the calendar, the Independent Musicians Council will be sponsoring thier first concert of the season. The show is scheduled for April 8th at 6:30 in the Gathering Place. Admission will be $6.00.
Featured at the concert will be local favorites Scenes From A Movie and Time and Distance along with some new faces like Stockdale, The Chasing Game, and The Forever Endeavor.
For more information on the IMC Concert or to find out how your band can play at a future concert, please contact IMC president Jasmine Rogers at rogersj@marietta.edu.
