Alum thanks Katrina volunteers

Dear Editor,
Last December, I had the opportunity to meet the students who came to New Orleans to assist with Katrina cleanup at Delgado Community College. As an alum, I was thrilled to see my alma mater step up to the plate and come to New Orleans to help out. My only regret is that I did not get a chance to spend more time getting to know the group as they all seemed like an incredible group of young men and women.

I know what it was like to have loved ones be evacuated by helicopter out of the city, clean out my flooded home and throw away most of my belongings and memories, as well as my office at Tulane University and it was by far the most challenging experience of my life. Any volunteer that comes down to help out down here is greatly appreciated. I feel proud to say that Marietta College is in that number that has truly helped New Orleans rebuild. To the group that was here in, thank you.
Thank you for helping us down here, each and every one of you should feel proud of what you have accomplished.
