The capstone project is an integral part of the Marietta College academic experience. All majors have this requirement and therefore all students are understand its gravity. For graphic design and studio art majors the capstone project culminates in the Senior Capstone Exhibition, an art exhibition that showcases the talents that our senior art students have perfected over their time at Marietta College. The show called “Imagine” will have its opening next Saturday, April 22, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the third floor gallery at the Hermann Fine Arts Center. This year there will be a large number of participants with pieces from across the spectrum of visual art. Participating in the show will be Stephanie Furness of Strongsville, Ohio, Patrick Quinn of Hardyston, New Jersy, Ashley Vincelli of Lyndhurst, Ohio, Rachael Cass of Columbus, Ohio, Kate Paullin of Deleware, Ohio, Kenny Alan Cramer of Fleming, Ohio, Amanda Cobb of Lima, Ohio, Chris Hendricks of Little Hocking, Ohio, Stajah Divine of Carroll, Ohio, Alaina Peter of Findlay, Ohio, Ben Jessup of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Dee Cernus of Marietta, Ohio. All of which will be at the opening to answer any questions about their pieces or about the process they went through to create them.

The exhibition will have something for everyone as there will be examples of photography, photographic collage, graphic design, mixed media, etchings, watercolor, traditional oil paintings, and digital paintings.

“This exhibit has something for everyone.” Professor Jolene Powell, Senior Capstone advisor stated in a press release, “It is a great opportunity for the public to see the variety of avenues in art that are available at Marietta College and also for these seniors to showcase all their hard work.”

The exhibition is free and all students, faculty, administration, and community are encouraged to attend. Following the opening on April 22, 2006 at 7:00 p.m., the show will run during regular gallery hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information contact Jolene Powell at (740) 376-4460.
