Oct. 26, 2006 Third Street Deli is an unique atmosphere for great food BY CHRISTINA HILDITCH AND EMILY C. SIDERS Third Street Deli Atmosphere: Just a hop, skip and jump away from campus lies the quaint and inviting Third Street Deli. The restaurant's indoor seating area is nestled cozily between brick walls and welcoming arches. There is a refrigerated counter full of daily salad specials and an assortment of baked goodies, pies and cakes. Service: After ordering at the counter, we noticed that the Third Street Deli offered selfseating. We were unsure if we needed to pick up our food at the counter, or if someone was going to bring it to us since payment is expected at the time of ordering. To our surprise, only after only a few short minutes, someone brought us our sandwiches and salad. As we were eating, they periodically came by to see if we needed our drinks refilled. Food: The menu is primarily composed of a variety of sandwiches (46 of them!), with daily salad, soup, and dessert specials. There's something for everyone; from the Garden Dream vegetarian option, a Chicken Cordon Blue sandwich, and even the option of building your ideal sandwich. Sandwiches come on the signature Third Street Roll, dark rye bread, a bagel, wheat bread, a pita, ciabatta or sourdough bread. We chose the Sicilian Sub and the Chipotle Club. Both sandwiches were perfect in terms of size and flavor. As a side item, the mozzarella salad was a compliment to our sandwiches. For an after-lunch treat, delicious homemade lemon squares and raspberry lemon cheesecake simply hit the spot. Overall: The Third Street Deli is the great place to go for a scrumptious lunch that's a leap up from Gilman Express's Stacker's Deli. The variety and close location makes grabbing a sandwich and some deli salad seem effortless. As a Third Street Deli regular, Ashley Wollam sums it up best: “One of the true flavors of Marietta, Third Street is a hidden treasure and delightful place to enjoy amazing food and a unique atmosphere for an orgasmic experience.”
