White Sox win World Series

By Jon Moffett

The Chicago White Sox have done what many people thought to be impossible. They broke an 88 year drought to become the 2005 Major League Baseball World Series Champions.

Manager Ozzie Guillen had plenty to work with this season. Hard-hitters like Aaron Rowand, Scott Podsednik, Juan Uribe, Jermaine Dye and A.J. Pierzynski and a red-hot starting rotation made up of Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Freddy Garcia, Jon Garland and Orlando Hernandez proved why the White Sox are the best team in baseball.

After a long awaited ticker-tape parade down the main streets of Chicago, the team went home to reminisce of a magic season.

Controversy sparks new MLB Debate

A swinging strikeout that led to a game-winning double, a double off the wall that was ruled a homerun, and a runner tagged out at first that was ruled safe. All these calls have something in common: they were all momentum shifters in the outcome of the MLB postseason.
These controversial calls have led some managers and players, as well as some owners and general managers to consider the addition of instant replay to the game of baseball, similar to what the NFL uses.

Supporters say that instant replay would be beneficial to get the tough calls correct while those against it say it would take away form the purity of the game.
The proposition for instant replay is one “challenge” per game that cannot be used for called balls or strikes.
