Nov. 30, 2006 Around MC Annual Holiday Concert Marietta College's Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music is conducting its annual Holiday Concert on Dec. 1 in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free. A freewill offering will be taken. The concert features performances by five of the College's 10 instrumental and vocal ensembles, including the MC Women's Choir, Chamber Singers and Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Daniel Monek, and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Marshall Kimball. History majors present tonight In what could be their most exhaustive research experience, 15 Marietta College history majors in Dr. Kathryn McDaniel's senior capstone course have been taking a scholarly look at events and developments in Marietta during the 1960s and 1970s. The students will present papers on their projects during "An Evening of Marietta History," mini-conferences from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in McDonough Center rooms 205 and 208. The presentations are free and open to the public. Merry Tuba Christmas Marietta College 's Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music is hosting Merry Tuba Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 2, in the Hermann Fine Arts Center. The event begins with registration on the second floor of Hermann from noon to 1 p.m. The ensemble rehearses from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in Hermann and performs a free public concert beginning at 4 p.m. in the lobby of Hermann. Area tuba, baritone and euphonium players are invited to participate in the event. December Graduation Approximately 35 Marietta College students, who completed requirements for graduation during the 2006 fall semester, will be honored by faculty, administration, family and friends at the December Graduation Celebration at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 in the McDonough Auditorium. Although the fall graduates officially receive their diplomas at spring commencement, the graduation-like December ceremony recognizes their achievements and marks their place in Marietta College’s Class of 2006. Independent Musician’s Club The Independent Musician's Club (IMC) brings music to Marietta on Saturday, December 2, at 7:00 pm. A rock concert featuring local music favorites Austen and My Kind as well as traveling artists Nicholas Megalis and The Red Dawn will occur in the Gathering Place to help raise money for a major Spring Concert. A 50/50 raffle will be held, and orders will be taken for Bring Back Spring Concert T-shirts-a limited number will also be sold. Admission will cost $3 for MC students and $5 for community members.
