New barbeque restaurant brings
winning flavor to Marietta

Atmosphere:
Back in 1911, Mrs. Betsey Mills founded The Girls' Monday Club, which
later become the Betsey Mills Club at the corner of Fourth and Putnam
Street. While the original club was primarily focused around a sewing
circle, the present day club offers dancing and swimming lessons,
a day care, various community events, and most importantly, an award-winning
restaurant. The Blacksmith Barbeque Company settled in to the historical
club's ambiance, making use of country flair and comfort in the decorating.
The tables are cozily placed besides inviting windows and a fire-burning
hearth in the dining area.
Service:
The staff was impeccably polite and courteous. When our waitress brought
out any food to us, she warmly said, please enjoy! Although
the Blacksmith Barbeque Company seemed slightly understaffed, they
never appeared overwhelmed. They made us feel right at home.
Food:
The Blacksmith Barbeque Company has an excellent reputation thanks
to their award-winning ribs at the Ohio Smoked Meats competition and
3rd-place beef brisket. The menu also includes VERY hearty entrees
such as salmon, steak, and chicken that includes two homemade side
dishes. There's also a variety of pastas as well as delectable sandwiches
that are served with homemade kettle chips. Beef brisket, pulled pork,
chicken tender, and the Betsey Mills club are included on the sandwich
menu. In addition to all of these tasty meals are the delightful desserts
that differ from day to day. We opted for the barbeque chicken dinner
with ginger applesauce and country-style green beans sides as well
as the black bean and brisket chili with a pulled pork sandwich. These
were incredibly filling and delicious.
Overall:
With its award winning food, the Blacksmith Barbeque Company is a
wonderful place to go if you're fixing to eat some hearty, down home
cooking. It is an ideal place to take anyone with an appetite as big
as Kirstie Alley's.
