Local cafe is a mid-day dream for college students
Emily Siders and Christiana Hilditch

Atmosphere:

Daydreams Café is conveniently located a few blocks from campus. The dining area is relatively small and consists of several booths, as well as a countertop eating area. If sitting in the booth area, one has the ability to observe Marietta's downtown activities. The restaurant is across the street from the courthouse, at the epicenter of city.

Service:

After ordering at the counter, we noticed that Daydreams Café offered self-seating. We were unsure if we needed to pick up our food at the counter, or if someone was going to bring it to us since payment is expected at the time of ordering.

After only a few short minutes, our food was prepared, somewhat Gilman Express style. As we were eating, the workers periodically came by to see if we needed our drinks refilled.
Food:

The menu consists of breakfast and lunch items, since the restaurant is opened during those times. There are a variety of sandwiches available for both meals. All sandwiches are made-to-order, and the restaurant offers various types of breads and toppings and all are relative inexpensive.

We opted for a smoked turkey sandwich on a fresh baked roll, a chicken cordon bleu sandwich on a croissant, as well as a bowl of the potato bacon soup. Both of which were absolutely delicious. One negative aspect of the menu was that the food was given out on a first-come-first serve basis.

Basically, once an item sold it out, it is gone for the day. Patrons should consider going a little earlier than closing (3 o'clock on the weekdays) if concerned about missing out on an item.

Overall:

As a college student, it is quite easy to get trapped in the arduous cycle of school, work, meetings, and whatever else happens to be cluttering our schedule. Unfortunately, this hectic schedule usually means rushing through, or else completely skipping out on lunch. Luckily, Daydreams Café gives college students another deli-style alternative for a mid-day meal. The restaurant offers quick and casual sit-down service, as well as speedy takeout options for the student on the go.

The no-hassle menu provides any MC student a chance for a break; one might even say an opportunity to daydream, amidst the torrent of work known as college.
