THE
MARCOLIAN
The Marcolian is the student newspaper at Marietta College, which has
been published since 1872.
It is a weekly publication that is written, edited, and designed by
Marietta College Students. Writers contributed on a volunteer basis
as well as members of various reporting and editing classes. Students
can also gain valuable advertising experience by selling and designing
ads for the publication.
Students
produce the weekly Marcolian from offices in the McKinney Media
Center.
The paper
has a long history of winning awards. Last year, the newspaper was awarded
an honorable mention as the best college newspaper in the country by
the Society of Collegiate Journalists.
The newspaper
is now electronically designed and in addition to the actual newspaper,
also it posts its news on its Web site at www.marcolian.com.
The staff
consists of an editor in chief along with numerous page editors and
student writers, photographers and advertising sales people. The total
staff consists of about 25 students.
The paper
is published every Thursday with special editions for Homecoming and
