Mitch Casey
Adjunct
An award-winning photographer for The Marietta Times newspaper,
Mitch Casey is a familiar face on campus and throughout the community.
A graduate of Ohio State University with a B.A. in Photography and Cinema,
Casey has served as an adjunct Instructor in the Mass Media Department,
teaching Photography and Visual Communications since 1997.
A native of Galion, Ohio, Casey worked part-time at his hometown newspaper
throughout his college years, serving in a variety of newsroom capacities
ranging from sports reporter to photographer. After graduation, Casey
returned full-time to the Galion Inquirer as a photographer,
serving there six years prior to joining The Times as a staff
photographer in 1991. Since then, he has become Photo Editor of the
12,000-circulation daily, a position he holds today.
Throughout his 17-year career, Casey has won more than 40 awards for
photography from the Ohio Associated Press and Gannett, the nations
largest newspaper chain. He also has free-lanced for organizations and
publications ranging from Associated Press and USA Today to
Sports Illustrated and Ohio Magazine. Casey continues to
free-lance today, shooting images for Marietta Colleges Sports
Information Department and a variety of other assignments including
an occasional wedding.
Married to Mary Alice Casey, editor of Ohio Universitys alumni
magazine Ohio Today, Casey is the father of two, Nathan, 13,
and Erin, 12. In his spare time, Casey is active in youth sports. A
former youth baseball coach, he now is active with the Marietta Marlins
swim team as well as the Marietta Lightning traveling soccer team. The
family resides in Marietta.
