WMRT-FM is a 9,200-watt stereo station with an audience throughout Southeast Ohio and West Virginia. The station provides cultural and informational programming, local, regional, national and international news and sports, and over 100 hours a week of classical and jazz music. Its programming is supported, to some extent, by underwriting from area business and listeners.

WCMO-FM, a low-power station in operation since 1960, broadcasts travel information, an assortment of music genres, variety shows, news, sports, and other programming for the campus and area youth.

Numerous students are involved in the day-to-day operation of the stations with the goals of honing their skills and producing original programming.

During the fall and spring semesters on WMRT-FM, a half-hour long interview program, called Campus Connection, airs twice a week. Tidbits of the Town, a student produced community-oriented feature, is usually heard during football game broadcasts. Another student production heard twice a week during the school year's Jock Talk, an hour long, sports-oriented talk show.

WMRT-FM is also the home for Marietta College athletics. Student crews regularly broadcast Pioneer action live on the air and stream audio live on the Internet with the help of local communications consulting firm Offenberger and White, Inc., and www.MariettaOnline.com.

Students can also gain experience as board operators, announcers and disk jockeys on both WMRT-FM and WCMO-FM. Opportunities range from classical music announcing for an automation system to technical directing for football broadcasts.

A newly constructed integrated television and radio newsroom now enables writers and producers to construct even more original programming with specialized newsroom software and state of the art editing software and equipment.

The cost of programing is partial underwritten with grants from area businesses. Their generosity allows the station to broadcast great classical music to the Mid-Ohio Valley. Contact Lori Smith for information about having your business included.
