Bancheri to coach Wyandotte in the summer. Men's Head Coach John bancheri has accepted the position of Heavyweight Men's Coach at Wyandotte Boat club in Wyandotte, Michigan, for their highly competitive 1997 summer program. Wyandotte, located south of Detroit, has an over 100 year history and a rich rowing tradition. Plenty of recruiting opportunities will surround Coach John this summer.

Weekend a big success. The MC Men's Crew had a great recruiting weekend on December 7-8. Fifteen high school seniors made the trip to Marietta-- some through terrible weather. A few had a chance to row in the third annual Foot O'D' Musky. The recruits, their parents, and the team ended the day with a pasta dinner at the Eco house, where 90% of the upperclass oarsmen live. We hope to see a few of these faces next fall.

Coach's attends clinic. Women's coach Bob Garbutt attended the United States Rwing Association Convention in Chattanooga, Tennessee, last December. The four-day annual event offered Level I coaching clinics from the top coaches in the US. Men's coach John Bancheri was selected to attend the inaugural United States Rwing Association Level II Coaching Workshop in Miami Beach, Florida. The workshop, which was February 6-9, 1997, included sessions taught by US national Team coaches Hartmut Buschbacher, Igor Grinko, and Mike Teti.

Baby Dalton born. Sarah Jane Dalton was born to Joan and Kevin Dalton on January 22, 1997. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces. Joan and Kevin are both members of MC Crew. Kevin in the men's co-captain .
