MACRA returns to Marietta
The Mid-American Collegiate Rwoing Association (MACRA) Championship Regatta will return to the Muskingum River on May 3. Marietta has hosted the annual event 16 time. Most recently, the race was held in Columbus, Ohio. A campaign spearheaded by the University of Charleston and Mercyhurst College brought the MACRA back to Marietta
The MACRA was formed in February 1965. Its charter members were marietta, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Purdue, St. Thomas, Wayne State, and Wisconsin. Many changes in membership have taken place in the last 32 years, but the regatta remains extremely competitive.
