New Vespoli shells to be dedicated this spring

The spring 1997 semester marks the wlcome of five new shells to the Marietta College fleet. The men's team has acquired three Wespoli eights. One is brand new, purchased with funds from the crew's Campaign 2000, complimenting the"T. Morris" Wespoli eight that the women's team dedicated last fall.

The remaining shells are a result of an insurance settlement. Returing from this year's Frostbite and Bill Braxton Memorial regattas in Philadelphia, the MC trailer was invoved in an accident that damaged several shells. Two eights were acquired from Yale University. These shells are in excellent condititon and will be utilized by the men's Juior Varsity and frosh/noovice crew.

In addition, the Pioneer Navy acquired two matching Vespoli fours with coxswain. These shells were repainted whit with navy trim to match the rest of the new shells. They had previously been bright yellow. These five new shells will be dedicated at a christening ceremony precding the Marietta Invitational Regatta on April 12.
