Dr. Chase has been at Marietta College since 1978. He has first-hand knowledge of Iraq through his dealings with students from that part of the world and his connection to the petroleum engineering companies.

During Dr. Chase's tenure, more than 600 students from all over the world have graduated from the program. Marietta's Petroleum Engineering program is the largest undergraduate program in the Eastern U.S. and is the only such program in the country at a liberal arts college.

Dr. Chase teaches courses in well testing, reservoir engineering, natural gas engineering, and engineering economics. In addition, he is instrumental in finding his students, from freshmen to seniors, highly paid summer internships and permanent positions with the top oil and gas companies in the world.

Mr. Freeman was employed by the Mobil Oil Corporation from 1984 to 1992. He has worked at Marietta College since then. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Ohio and is currently the Marietta College Board Representative of Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors Agency. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of enhanced oil recovery and production engineering.

Dr. Voner joined Marietta College in 1982. Every summer he takes students to central Utah in search of dinosaur fossils. A few years ago, Dr. Voner and his students discovered an Apatosaurus skull connected to its vertabrae, one of only a few in the world.

Dr. Thomas has worked in the oil and gas industry for more than 25 years. His positions have included staff and district engineering positions and various management positions, including serving as the president of Marbel Energy Corporation and a senior vice president at Great Lakes Energy Partners. Dr. Thomas is currently the president of Thomas Consulting, which provides consulting services to clients involved in the petroleum and natural gas sectors.

Veronica "Rocky" Freeman

Rocky has been an adjunct lecturer in geology at Marietta College since the fall of 1993. She has taught Historical Geology, Invertebrate Paleontology, Sedimentation & Stratigraphy, and Dinosaurs. Her previous geologic employment has included hydrocarbon well-logger for CORE Labs in Oklahoma, a uranium grade control geologist for Kerr-McGee in New Mexico, a part-time lab technician for Mobil Research and Development in Dallas, Texas, an assistant to director of the radiocarbon lab at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and a petroleum engineer assistant for MacPherson Oil Company, Bakersfield, CA.
