7c. How might the photosynthesis apparatus be used to measure cellular respiration directly?

By covering the leaf chamber entirely with foil, photosynthesis would be prevented, and you could observe the exclusive effect of cellular respiration on O2 exchange. 'Photorespiration' --an aberration in the CO2 fixation pathway--also utilizes O2 but only occurs in the light. Click here for a brief review of photorespiration.
