||Hello! My name is Katy Fattaleh and I am a sophomore at Marietta College. I knew coming out of high school that theatre was my passion and I couldn't see myself doing anything else. I want to purse musical theatre so I am a Bachelor of Fine Arts Theatre Major and Music Minor. Working with the two departments is going well and both are supportive in helping me acquire the skills I need to be successful.
Not only does Marietta offer what I want to study, it also has its own alluring charm. When I was looking at schools, my father always told me to pay attention to how you feel about the campus-if you can seriously picture yourself there. On my first visit I was pleasantly surprised at the quaintness of Marietta. (I'm not quite sure how else to put it.) The campus is not very large which made the visit less intimidating than some other colleges and somehow I just felt like I could easily fit in to the campus life. And after completing my first year, I have found that my gut instinct was very right.
As a freshman I was expecting to be at the "bottom of the food chain." But, to my surprise, after auditioning I got a callback and ended up being cast as a lead in the fall studio production of Boom. I was so excited to be on the stage and work with the students in the program. Truth be told, I was intimidated of my fellow students at first, but by working with the small cast I gradually got to know them and become a part of the loving family here in the theatre department. I was also cast in the spring mainstage production of The Mineola Twins, as one of the twins. I honestly never could have imagined that I would have had such an outstanding freshman year. I'm very proud of the work I was able to accomplish my first year of college because not only was I able to be a part of shows, but also because I took about eighteen credit hours each semester, joined Concert Choir, and strengthened my voice through lessons. Inevitably, I'm learning great time management skills!
In my upcoming years at Marietta I expect to keep growing as a performer and as a person in general. I want to learn about all areas of the theatre so that I can know more about this art I love so much. And I plan to continue to enjoy my time here at Marietta.
I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to ask me any questions at email@example.com.
