Marietta College makes strong showing at home forensics competition

Marietta College students of forensics and communication garnered 22 awards at the 55th annual Ruth A. Wilcox Forensics Invitational Tournament held at MC on Nov. 6.

Students representing 14 colleges from Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Michigan competed in ten individual events and parliamentary debate in the one-day tournament hosted by the College and the Ohio Zeta Chapter of Pi Kappa Delta at MC.

“Marietta’s rhetorical tradition began with the founding of the College. By hosting a tournament we are able to continue a tradition and offer all of our students the opportunity to improve their communication, research, and social skills,” said Dr. Mabry M. O’Donnell, director of forensics and professor of communication. “This year, we had many of our first year communication students enter the tournament, which provided them a forum outside the classroom to test what they have learned this semester.”
