Marietta College will follow the guidelines of the State of Ohio, Marietta/Belpre Health Department and NCAA. At present, the NCAA has developed Core Principles of Resocialization, which the College will use as the foundation for developing more specific institutional policies and timelines. The Administrative Committee of the NCAA, Division III has recently announced that practice for fall sports may begin on August 10. However, that date does not mesh precisely with the resocialization principles. Consequently, Athletic Department leadership is still working on determining the exact move-in date for Fall Sports.

Athletes will be asked to perform a daily, online symptom check that will be read by athletic trainers and coaches to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. If a student-athlete is sick or has symptoms, they are required to report it to the specific team’s trainer and coach — and the individual student-athlete does not report to practice until they are cleared.

Every Marietta College student-athlete, as a part of the larger campus community, is required to wear a mask or face covering in common areas and classrooms where physical distancing is not feasible and to practice strong personal hygiene to assist in the mitigation of the virus.

These recommendations and requirements will be updated as new information about the virus develops and we monitor and evaluate data. (last updated July 1, 2020)
