The Office of Civic Engagement, in partnership with Student Life, will be taking a group of students to Washington, D.C., for an Alternative Spring Break Service Learning Trip. Come find out more at an open info session at 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 24th, in the McDonough Third Floor Gallery. We'll go over the goals of the trip, possible activities, costs and logistics, and answer any questions. You can also register for the trip at the meeting.

The Alternative Spring break will travel Saturday, March 11th through Thursday, March 16th. Activities will include service projects such as urban gardening, support of homeless populations, and outreach to seniors, and visits to organizations working with vulnerable populations in our nation's capitol. We will also meet with government officials and active organizations to learn about the political process, lobbying, and policy making. Other activities include sightseeing and museum visits, as well as a visit to the Library of Congress.

Cost of  $150 per student includes transportation from and to campus, lodging, and all meals and activities during the six-day trip! Assistance with this trip cost may be available. The trip is open to ALL students, regardless of year, major, etc. We have space for up to 10 participants. Come to the information meeting to get your name on the list!
