The Mid-Ohio Valley Players are pleased to present The Spitfire Grill: A Musical at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29th, at the Players Theatre, 229 Putnam St. You won't want to miss this beautiful musical — a story of hope and redemption to bring light and warmth to your January nights. Under the direction of Jeff Walker and the musical direction of Peter Sour, with an excellent cast, the music soars, the story brings both laughter and tears, and the evening will be well spent. Starring Marietta College alumni — Morgan Maciag ’19, Amber Smrek ’15, and Nathaniel Maciag ’18 — the show is about Percy Talbot (Morgan Maciag) who has just been released from a five-year prison sentence. She is trying to find a place for a fresh start and travels to the small town of Gilead, Wisconsin, where she finds a job at Hannah’s Spitfire Grill, the only eatery in this struggling town. The Spitfire Grill is for sale, but with no interested buyers, Hannah decides to raffle it off with an entry fee of $100 and the best essay on why they want the grill is the winner. Soon, mail is arriving by the wheelbarrow and things are getting hot at the Spitfire Grill. The musical is an inspiring celebration of the power of what one person can do.
Tickets are available online at midohiovalleyplayers.org. Another performance is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 30th. The January 30th performance is a required mask performance.
