Dr. Amy H. Sturgis, winner of the Imperishable Flame Award for Tolkien/Inklings scholarship and author of The Trail of Tears and Indian Removal and Tecumseh: A Biography, will be a featured speaker during Marietta College's recognition of Native American History Month. Sturgis, one of the hosts of the Hugo-Award winning podcast StarShipSofa, will speak about Indigenous "Futurism: Native American Literatures of Hope," at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15th, in Thomas 113. Sturgis has combined her scholarship on Native American history with her interest in science fiction/fantasy literature to study what’s called “Indigenous Futurism,” which refers to Native American science fiction and fantasy literature.
