Globalization has dramatically changed the way our graduates interact in the world of work. As the marketplace shrinks and cultures clash, we need, more than ever, leaders who can overcome differences and inspire others to rise above prejudice and parochialism. The McDonough Center strives to expand opportunities for students to become global leaders. Global leadership education is no longer the realm of exotic and glamorous globe-trotting adventurers. It is the reality of a new century marked by interdependence, rapid technological changes, and the need to bridge cultural divides.
At McDonough, we offer the Global Leadership Studies (GLS) Major for students interested in an international career (e.g., international law, international business, global advocacy, diplomacy). Most GLS students combine this major with another area of study, depending on their professional interests. Aside from the GLS major, McDonough also offers experiential education opportunities (e.g., study abroad, global conference) so students can expand their global leadership skills.
