As Assistant Director of Tutoring, Claire Crane oversees Marietta College's Tutoring and Learning Center and Writing Center. She prepares peer consultants for their role in facilitating their fellow students’ learning through a College Reading and Learning Association-accredited tutor training program. She also collaborates with faculty to provide informational presentations about tutoring services, study skills workshops, and embedded tutoring for challenging courses.

Claire discovered her passion for peer tutoring as an undergraduate student working at Marian University’s Writing Center. When she pursued a Master of Arts in English at Xavier University, she served as a graduate assistant at the James A. Glenn Writing Center, tutoring student writers, supervising and mentoring undergraduate staff, and helping manage day-to-day operations at the center. During her graduate studies, Claire also taught English Composition at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Claire is committed to supporting and empowering learners at Marietta through the community and conversation central to peer tutoring. She encourages students to utilize tutoring services for a unique, personalized learning experience and as a valuable resource to help them reach new heights.
