Biography

Dan Leonard, MA, is the President and CEO of the National Pharmaceutical Council based in Washington DC. NPC is a leading health policy and research organization within the Life Sciences sector.

Leonard is a veteran association executive and communications strategist. His previous healthcare industry experience includes serving as executive vice president of advocacy and professional services for America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). He served as a senior vice president at the Washington public relations firms Edelman and CLS. In 1996 he served as press secretary and spokesman for Vice-Presidential Nominee Jack Kemp. Prior to that, he served as chief of staff to New York Congresswoman Susan Molinari. Directly out of college Leonard worked in television newsrooms in Boston, and Pittsburgh and as the lead on-air political reporter at WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH.

He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and Radio-Television from Marietta College and a master’s in government from Johns Hopkins University.
