Biography

Marshall C. Kimball currently serves as an Adjunct Music Professor/Consultant for the Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music. Professor Kimball retired from Marietta College in Spring 2019 following 14 years of service. He served as Chairman of the Marietta College Department of Music, Professor of Music and Director of Bands and Instrumental Activities.

He is a member of MENC, OMEA, Phi Beta Mu Band Director Honorary, Kappa Kappa Psi Band Honorary, Phi Mu Alpha Music Honorary, NEA, OEA, Society for Music Teacher Education, National Band Association, Percussive Arts Society, and College Band Directors National Association. While teaching at Marietta College, Professor Kimball was awarded the Freshman Advising Award, the Innovative Teaching Award, The Douglas Putnam Outstanding Service award, the Harness Outstanding Educator award and has been nominated twice for the McCoy Professor teaching award. In April, he received the 2019 Lifetime Achievement in Music Award from the Ohio University School of Music.

Professor Kimball has held numerous leadership positions in organizations in which he holds membership. In the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), he has served as a marching band adjudicator, concert band adjudicator, solo and ensemble adjudicator, state chair for the Music Support Group and state chairman of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association. He has served two terms as president of the Ohio Private College Instrumental Conductors Association (OPCICA). He has served as a guest conductor and clinician numerous times and has judged marching band in the State of Washington, Oklahoma, Ohio and Indiana.
