Dear Marietta College family:
As you and your family celebrate our nation’s independence today, I wanted to wish each of you a Happy Fourth of July! I also want to thank the members of the Marietta College community who joined Judy and me this morning for the parade downtown.
It may have been hot and humid, but what a positive impression we made on so many of our neighbors.
As you enjoy yourself during our extended Fourth of July holiday — hosting a barbecue, going to a ballgame or watching fireworks — I hope you will take a moment to reflect on the brave men and women who fought and demanded independence more than two centuries ago.
At this time of the year, I’m always reminded of this quote by our 33rd President, Harry S. Truman: “America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination.”
Thank you for all that you do for Marietta College, and our amazing community.
Bring Forth a Pioneer!
