Dear Marietta College family:
As you and your family celebrate our nation’s independence this week, Judy and I wanted to wish each of you a Happy Independence Day!
During our extended Fourth of July holiday (July 4-5) — hosting a barbecue, going to a ballgame or watching fireworks — I ask that you take a moment to reflect on the brave men and women who fought and demanded independence more than two centuries ago.
At this time of the year, I always try to come up with a quote that sums up how I’m feeling. This year, I have turned to something the United States’ 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, said: “In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.”
Thank you for all that you do for Marietta College, and our amazing community.
Bring Forth a Pioneer!
