Dear Marietta College Family,

As we celebrate the 245th anniversary of our nation’s independence, I wanted to wish each of you a Happy Fourth of July! It is also a great time to remember what freedom represents and the opportunities it affords. As you enjoy yourself during our extended Fourth of July holiday — hosting a barbecue, going to a ballgame, or simply enjoying time with family and friends — I hope you will take a moment to reflect on the brave men and women who fought and demanded independence more than two centuries ago.

On this day, remember what John Adams, the second President of the U.S., said, "It will be celebrated with pomp and parade, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other." And we proudly celebrate our independence this weekend.

Thank you for all that you do for Marietta College, and our amazing community.

Bring Forth a Pioneer!
