Dear Marietta College Students,  

Thank you so very much for entrusting Marietta College with your education. Your family’s investment in a high-quality liberal arts experience allows us to offer the fulfilling and enriching experience that you expect. Through safe, on-campus classroom experiences, student-faculty research opportunities, challenging courses that open new ways of looking at the world or internships that ignite their passion, each student at Marietta develops the talents and self-assurance that are critical in today’s world.

I am writing you today to announce that at its October 2021 meeting, Marietta College’s Board of Trustees approved a fee schedule that raises tuition and fees by 1.5 percent for the 2022-23 academic year. The increase is slightly lower than this year’s 1.9-percent increase.

Tuition and fees will be $38,022 (an increase of $562), and room and board will be $11,946 (an increase of $178). Therefore, tuition, fees and room and board will be $49,968 at an overall increase of $740 — before applying scholarships and other forms of financial aid.

Our graduates also understand the commitment they have made to their future, and the current 3-year cohort loan default rate at Marietta is 5.4 percent, compared to the national average of 7.3 percent.

We greatly appreciate the substantial financial investments made by parents and students, and this year’s increase is not arbitrary. The College will budget more than $26 million in financial aid for the next academic year. By allocating these funds to help alleviate some of the challenges that tuition and fees can present, we hope to ensure our ongoing commitment to our students and their future.
