Dear Marietta College Community,

Marietta College has updated is COVID-19 mask policy to reflect optional use of facemasks indoors and outdoors regardless of vaccination status. This change reflects the latest guidelines established in June 2021 by the Centers for Disease Control and the State of Ohio.

Though wearing a facemask is optional, both the CDC and Ohio officials still emphasize the importance for unvaccinated people to continue properly wearing facemasks indoors and outdoors when other people are present to reduce the potential for spread of the virus. Health officials also strongly encourage everyone who can safely receive one of the three approved vaccines to do so. The vaccines are widely available to anyone age 12 or older.

With this new optional facemask policy, it is important to be respectful toward people who may still choose to wear facemask and to those who do not, as well as toward people who choose not to or cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccination.

Our students, faculty and staff have done a tremendous job during the COVID-19 pandemic, and our dedication to safely continue the important work at Marietta College is a reflection of this community’s pioneering spirit.

Bring Forth a Pioneer,

Bill Ruud
