Dear Marietta College Community:
Last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a policy recommendation indicating that individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear masks (indoors or outdoors) or maintain social distance. This is another positive sign that U.S. continues to trend in a positive direction and we are emerging from some of the necessary health and safety restrictions imposed during the pandemic.
Ohio’s health orders are also following the CDC policy, and Marietta College will also follow those guidelines. To ensure that we are in compliance, anyone who is vaccinated and has shared their vaccination card/information with HR will be permitted to be on campus without a mask. If you have already shared your COVID-19 vaccination card with HR, we thank you. If you are fully vaccinated and have not shared your vaccination card, please email it to Vicki Ford at fordv@marietta.edu. Submitting your vaccination card to HR is not required, but it does help us plan and make informed decisions regarding our health as a community.
Anyone who has elected to not get one of the three approved vaccines is required to follow the guidelines we shared last week — you must have a mask in your possession at all times and you must put it on if you are with others and when you enter any campus buildings.
We continue to encourage everyone who chooses to and who is eligible to get the vaccine as they are scientifically proven to be effective against severe illness due to the COVID-19 virus.
We will continue to monitor local trends and follow CDC guidelines for any future updates to our safety precautions. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Bill Ruud
President and Professor of Management
