Dear Marietta College Employees and Students,

Though the COVID-19 Recovery Task Force will meet this week and an update email will be sent to the Marietta College community after that meeting, we felt it was important to share with you some news that came out of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s press conference on Monday.

Effective Thursday, March 4th, Phase 1C and Phase 2 of the vaccine delivery schedule will begin.

Phase 1C includes the following groups:

  • People with Type 1 diabetes
  • People with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
  • Bone marrow transplant recipients
  • Pregnant women
  • Law enforcement
  • Firefighters (including volunteer firefighters)
  • Childcare workers (including teachers, administrators, substitutes enrolled in Ohio’s Professional Registry who currently work in childcare and pre-K programs)
  • Funeral service employees
  • Phase 2 includes all citizens 60 or older.

These groups are in addition to those who are currently eligible (65+ years old, solid organ transplant candidates and recipients; people with sickle cell anemia, Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, severe heart defects that require specialized medical care, severe type 1 diabetes that has caused hospitalization in the past year, phenylketonuria (PKU)/Tay-Sachs/other rare, inherited metabolic disorders, epilepsy with continuing seizures, hydrocephaly, microcephaly and other severe neurological disorders, Turner syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome and other severe genetic disorders, people with severe asthma who have been hospitalized for the condition in the past year, alpha and beta thalassemia.

As a reminder, the campus community must continue to follow the Marietta College Cocktail of properly wearing facemasks, frequently washing and sanitizing hands, maintaining safe physical distances, and monitoring and reporting symptoms. Please continue to follow entrance and exit signs for buildings, keep all classroom furniture within their designated, taped-off areas, and please be sure to cut the elastic bands on your disposable masks before putting them in wastebaskets.
