Dear Marietta College Community:
I am excited to announce that Jeffrey D. Welch ’77 will serve as Marietta College’s Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration. As a certified public account, Jeff is an experience financial professional who I am excited has agreed to return to his alma mater.
Jeff retired in 2019 following 42 years in the banking industry — the final nine as a Senior Vice President at Settlers Bank. Prior to that he worked at Peoples Bank for 33 years, including time as a Vice President and Treasurer.
Many of you may know Jeff from many of the community organizations that he has volunteered with, including United Way President, Marietta Bantam League and Building Bridges to Careers. He has also served as a board member for the Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley and the NCAA Division III World Series Committee.
Since 2017, Jeff has taught a variety of business courses as an instructor.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Marietta College in 1977 and also earned an MBA in 1997 from Ohio University.
We have already started working on an extended national search for a permanent VPFA/CFO, and we should have someone in place by June 1, 2022.
Please join me in welcoming Jeff to the Marietta College Family, and I know he is excited to join the College’s senior leadership team.
Bring Forth a Pioneer!
Bill Ruud
President and Professor of Management
