Dear Marietta College Community:
In my 40-plus years of working in higher education, I have never been prouder of the people I work with and the institution that we all represent. Today, I have the distinct honor of announcing that for the second consecutive year, Marietta College has been named a “Great College to Work For,” according to a new survey by The Great Colleges to Work For program.
What makes this year even more special is seeing how many categories we received recognition. Of the 12 categories that are evaluated, Marietta College won honors in 10 of them (up from three last year). We received honors in the following:
- Collaborative Governance
- Professional/Career Development Programs
- Teaching Environment
- Compensation/Benefits
- Facilities, Work space and Security
- Job Satisfaction
- Work-Life Balance
- Confidence in Senior Leadership
- Respect and Appreciation
- Tenure Clarity and Process
In all, only 85 of the 236 institutions who participated in the program achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies.
The recognition of Marietta, being one of the Great Colleges to Work For in the country is frankly a reflection of the commitment and engagement of our 400-plus talented faculty and staff. We are always pleased to receive such recognition, however, the ongoing contributions by our community to make Marietta College an amazing place for our students is what we truly celebrate.
Any college or university that’s on the list is showing that they emphasize one of their most valuable assets: their people: faculty, staff, and students.
Great Colleges to Work For is one of the largest and most comprehensive workplace studies in higher education. I congratulate all of you for helping us make a positive shift in our campus culture and I want you to know that everyone at Marietta College has helped make this a great place to work and learn.
We will celebrate this achievement from 2:00-3:30 p.m. today in Upper Gilman with an apple slice bar that will include caramel, chocolate and other healthy toppings.
Congratulations and thank you!!
Bring Forth a Pioneer!
