Dear Marietta College Student and Parents,
Thank you so very much for entrusting Marietta College with your education. Your family’s investment in a high-quality liberal arts experience allows us to offer the fulfilling and enriching experience that you expect. Through great classroom experiences, student-faculty research opportunities, eye-opening study abroad experiences, challenging courses that open new ways of looking at the world or internships that ignite their passion, each student at Marietta develops the talents and self-assurance that are critical in today’s world.
I am writing you today to announce that at its October 2018 meeting, Marietta College’s Board of Trustees approved a fee schedule that raises tuition and fees by 2 percent for the 2020-21 academic year. The increase follows three consecutive years of not raising tuition or fees.
Tuition and fees will be $36,764 (an increase of $724), and room and board will be $11,548 (an increase of $228). Therefore, tuition, fees and room and board will be $48,312 at an overall increase of $952 — before applying scholarships and other forms of financial aid.
Our graduates also understand the commitment they have made to their future, and the current 3-year cohort loan default rate at Marietta is 3.5 percent, compared to the national average of 10.1 percent.
We greatly appreciate the substantial financial investments made by parents and students, and this year’s increase is not arbitrary. The College will budget more than $19 million in financial aid for the next academic year. By allocating these funds to help alleviate some of the challenges that tuition and fees can present, we hope to ensure our ongoing commitment to our students and their future.
At Marietta, we remain committed to our mission of providing a high-quality education that proves to be transformative, while continuing to address the challenges of balancing quality and our cost. I encourage you to visit the Student Accounts website at www.marietta.edu/student-accounts — which provides information about available payment methods, tuition payment plans, loans and tax benefits for education. Our dedicated and professional members of the student accounts team are also ready and available to help you. They can be reached at 1-800-274-4619 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your faith and trust in Marietta College.
