Marietta College is pleased to welcome Dr. Randall Balmer to discuss Christian Nationalism and Democratic Crisis on Thursday, April 11, at the Alma McDonough Auditorium. The presentation begins at 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Department of History, Philosophy, Religion, and Gender & Sexuality Studies.

Balmer is the John Phillips Professor of Religion at Dartmouth College. He is an authority on 20th-century American religion, evangelicalism, and the origins of the religious right. He has written over a dozen books, including Bad Faith: Race and the Rise of the Religious Right, and Solemn Reverence: The Separation of Church and State in American Life. His second book, Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory: A Journey into the Evangelical Subculture in America, now in its fifth edition, was made into a three-part Emmy-nominated documentary for PBS. He is an ordained priest of the Episcopal Church.
