New students may move into their assigned residence hall room on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm and should report directly to their residence hall.
All first-year students living on campus should report to their assigned residence hall. For those first-year students who will be commuting, a check-in table will be stationed in Upper Gilman from 3-4 p.m. on Move-In Day. All residential students should report to the tent in front of the Dorothy Webster Complex at some point during the 8 a.m.-2 p.m. time period to receive their orientation materials.
I am an Athlete/Leadership student and will already by in campus prior to Move-In Day. Where should I pick up my Orientation packet?
All Orientation packets for first year students will be distributed at a tent in front of the Dorothy Webster Complex from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (for those living on campus) or at the commuter student check-in at Andrews Hall at 2 p.m. Athletes should arrange a time with their coaches during which they can pick up their information at these locations during the appropriate times.
Orientation is required of all new incoming students. The Orientation Staff has worked hard to put together a schedule of events which will help in your transition to Marietta College both academically and socially.
The FYE 101 class which are held during Orientation are treated just like any other class during the academic year. Students should know that failure to attend these sessions could affect their final grade in this class.
If students have physical problems (i.e. light bulb, broken shelf), they should contact their Resident Advisor (RA) who will then submit a work request to Physical Plant.
The Campus Bookstore, located on the second floor of Gilman, will carry all the books you need for your classes. They also carry school supplies such as pencils, pens, notebooks, and of course, any Marietta College clothing and memorabilia that you could want!
Students may purchase their textbooks prior to their arrival on campus at http://www.marietta.edu/student/bookstore.html. If you would rather wait until you get to campus to purchase your books, you may do so during Move-In Day or during one of the blocks of free time during Orientation.
How do I get a parking permit?
Please see the Parking page for all parking related questions.
Matriculation is a traditional ceremony which signifies the formal enrollment of a student at Marietta College. Families are encouraged to attend this milestone in their student’s college career. During Matriculation, students and their families are formally welcomed to the campus community and students sign the Marietta College Enrollment Book, another tradition at Marietta College.
Students are strongly encouraged to dress appropriately for the Matriculation ceremony. As it is a formal ceremony, suggested attire is a shirt and tie for men and a dress/skirt/pant suit for women.
