Biography

Mike Mulvey, who was a member of Marietta College's back-to-back NCAA Division III National Championship teams in 2011 and 2012, returned to his alma mater in 2019 to serve as the pitching coach. Mulvey spent two years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum University. Primarily responsible for the Muskie pitchers, Mulvey assisted with all aspects of the program. He coordinated Muskingum’s recruiting efforts including the development of a national recruiting database.

Prior to Muskingum, Mulvey served two years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pennsylvania. Mulvey helped the Cougars to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and two MAC Freedom Conference Championships. He assisted in all aspects of the day-to-day operations including strength and conditioning and handling the Cougar pitchers. During his tenure, Misericordia went a combined 64-17 and had three all-region and 11 all-conference selections including one MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year.

Mulvey began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He spent one year on the staff of former Pioneer player and coach Mike Deegan. Mulvey worked with the Big Red pitchers and outfielders and also supervised the strength and conditioning program.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Mulvey served as the pitching coach for the Martinsville Mustangs of the Coastal Plains League in the summer of 2015.

A second team all-region honoree as a senior, Mulvey finished his playing career in the pinstripes with a 15-3 overall record and a 2.86 career earned run average. In addition to the 2011 and 2012 national titles, the Pioneers made four NCAA Tournament appearances capturing two NCAA Regional crowns, three OAC regular season and two OAC Tournament championships. Mulvey twice earned All-OAC accolades including honorable mention in 2012 and first team recognition in 2013.
