Biography

Zachary J.R. Spivey is a versatile music educator and performer based in Columbus, Ohio. With a passion for music that spans education, theory, composition, and performance, Zachary brings a unique blend of skills and experience to his professional journey.

Zachary's teaching experience includes roles as a Graduate Assistant at Ohio University School of Music, where he taught music theory courses and adapted to online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing his proficiency in educational technology. His music theory expertise extends to one-on-one tutoring, curriculum development, and the use of aural training software.

In addition to his teaching, Zachary is an accomplished musician with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition and a Master of Arts in Music Performance (Horn) from Ohio University. His performance history includes being part of the Ohio University Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber groups. Zachary has also excelled as the Second Horn with the Ohio Valley Symphony, contributing his talent to a range of concerts and recording projects. As a composer and arranger, he has created works for diverse styles and instrumentations, showcasing his skill in musical arranging and engraving.
