Faculty and Staff Social Function Procedures

Marietta College faculty and staff who wish to host an on-campus event where alcohol is present must seek prior approval from the Dean of Student Life. (The President's House, Private Resident Director Apartments and International Scholars House are excluded from this requirement.)

Approval will be given as long as the following guidelines are in place:

  • Guests will be members of the Marietta College community (faculty, administrators, staff, students and alumni). When 50% or more of the guests are non-Marietta College community members a third party vendor must be hired to distributed alcohol at the event.

  • Alcohol will be limited to beer and wine, unless a third party vendor is hired.

  • Alcohol cannot be sold unless a third party vendor is hired and an F-Permit is obtained.

  • Alternate non-alcoholic beverages must be available.

  • Appropriate high protein food must be served.

  • Underage guests, while they may be present, must not be served alcohol.

  • Use of bulk quantities of alcohol (kegs, beer balls) is prohibited.

  • During the last 30 minutes of the event the alcohol service must stop.

To request approval for a social function with alcohol:

  • Submit it electronically to Melissa Liptak, Director of Student Activities & Greek Life at mdl001@marietta.edu.

Forms should be completed at least two weeks prior to the social function.
