Not a few years. Not several decades. But more than two centuries of tradition. Marietta College traces its roots to area pioneers in 1797 and was chartered by the state of Ohio in 1835.

The Long Blue Line is the community of Marietta College alumni stretching back in time to the College's beginning. To date, that adds up to more than 25,000 living alumni.

Every major at Marietta encourages internship experience. Clearly, we hold real-world experience in high esteem. Students intern all over the world at places like Walt Disney, Exxon Mobil, Target, GE Plastics and the PGA Tour.

China, Australia, England, France, Indonesia, Japan, Spain, Sweden and Thailand are just a few of the destinations for Marietta students who study abroad. Faculty also organize special excursions to exotic locations like Brazil, London, Belize, Costa Rica, and Guatemala.

Ninety-five percent of our students — from 40 states and 10 countries — live on campus in a range of housing options-traditional residence halls, new apartment-style residence halls, fraternities and sororities.

We have 20 teams that compete in the NCAA Division III Ohio Athletic Conference. Men's teams-baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor). Women's teams-basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, rowing soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, track and field (indoor and outdoor).
