Dr. Erb is a past-president and executive board member of the Ohio Association of Private Colleges of Teaching Education, and serves on the NCATE Board of Examiners. She is also a member of the Washington County Children Services Board, the International Reading Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English.

She has been inducted by Alpha Delta Kappa (teaching honorary and service organization), Delta Kappa Gamma (education honorary and service organization), Kappa Delta Pi (education honorary), Phi Kappa Phi (academic honorary), Omicron Delta Kappa, and Mortar Board (national leadership honorary).

Dr. Erb presented with fellow MC faculty member, Dr. Connie Golden, at the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education International Conference in San Diego, California in March of 2010 The title of the joint presentation was "The Digital Narrative: Bringing the Past to the Present." The presentation focused on how multimedia and oral histories can be combined with historical fiction to build critical background knowledge. Dr. Erb also presented a session on building collaborative community relationships to address literacy at the Ohio School Improvement Institute in Columbus in November 2009. She is a regular presenter at state and national conferences dealing with the integration of technology in instruction and assessment.
