Biography

Matt came to Marietta College in the Fall of 2004. While his doctoral research dealt with polytopes, Matt’s current mathematical interests include graph theory and sports analytics. He spent a recent sabbatical delving into NCAA Division I FCS football ratings and modeling the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament. The latter project resulted in an upcoming publication in Math Horizons.

Matt is the faculty advisor for the Marietta College Math Club, (mc) 2 and is the Vice President for the Marietta College Phi Beta Kappa chapter. He also is active in the Ohio Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), where he has both served on and chaired the Committee on Student Members (CONSTUM) and the Program Committee.

His wife, Holly, also teaches (Math/Statistics) in the MCIS department at Marietta. They have two daughters, Grace and Jada.
