Maria Modayil, Ph.D., serves as the Senior Director of Career Development and Experiential Education at Marietta College, where she leads efforts to connect students’ academic experiences with meaningful career and experiential learning opportunities.
Dr. Modayil brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education, healthcare, global health, experiential learning, and community engagement. Prior to joining Marietta College, she held a variety of roles at Ohio University, including faculty, program management, experiential learning, global health, and public health. Her work has focused on developing programs and partnerships that help students apply classroom learning to real-world settings and prepare for lives of purpose and impact.
Born and raised in Kuwait, Dr. Modayil completed her college education in India and the United States. Dr. Modayil is passionate about global learning, interdisciplinary education, mentorship, and creating opportunities for students to explore their interests and strengths. She holds a Ph.D. from Ohio University, as well as degrees in audiology and speech-language pathology. In the US, she has worked as a certified medical speech-language pathologist at Level 1 Trauma acute care hospital, long-term care facilities, as well as outpatient facilities.
