FAQs About Our 2020-2021 Season
Are you producing theatre this year?
Yes! In the Department of Theatre at Marietta College, we strive to provide a high-quality, individualized theatre education for each student in our programs and classes. Producing plays and musicals is a vital part of that education, helping students practice their craft and gain professional skills through practical experience.
In these unprecedented times, we are fulfilling our mission in creative, new ways. We are moving forward with rehearsals and plans to produce musicals and plays throughout the school year while following all relevant health orders as well as the specific guidelines of the Marietta College administration.
Are your shows open to the public this year?
To meet the needs of our students and in response to the COVID-19 guidelines of both the state of Ohio and the Marietta College administration, our live performances are not open to the public at this time. While we are saddened that we will be unable to invite our local patrons into our performance spaces, we understand that our responsibility to protect our students, faculty, staff, and larger Mid-Ohio Valley community must take precedence.
Will you stream shows online?
Yes! We will make our productions available through streaming whenever possible. To stay flexible, we are announcing each production shortly before it opens. Check back here regularly or follow us on our Facebook page to learn about future productions.
The music of Godspell has brought joy and thoughtful contemplation to audiences around the world for the last 50 years. This Easter weekend, the Theatre at Marietta College is pleased to present these beloved and chart-topping songs performed by its students on the Friederich stage and streamed right into your homes for free. Our students have been working on these numbers for the past year since the global pandemic shut down our live performances planned for the spring of 2020. Now we are happy to share these powerful messages inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and hope you will join us as we celebrate the coming of spring and share with you the successes of our student performers.
Godspell will be streamed at 6 pm, 8 pm, and 10 pm on April 2nd and 3rd. Free access to each stream can be reserved through www.showtix4u.com/events/MCTheatre beginning March 26th. Marietta College students and employees also should reserve access through ShowTix4U.
Godspell was conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Godspell 2012-Revised Version is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com
