Marietta College is located in the City of Marietta, Ohio, which is the county seat of Washington County. The first permanent settlement in the Northwest Territory, Marietta was established in 1788 by a band of entrepreneurs, veterans of the American Revolution, and pioneers in education, medicine, business and social reform.

The City, with a population of 15,000, serves as the retail hub for much of Washington County, which has a population of 65,000. Today, Marietta is a city of beautiful parks, two rivers, 19th-century architecture, brick streets, historical landmarks and museums. Here you'll find one of America's most robust downtowns alive with shops, restaurants and businesses.

In addition to Marietta College, the City is home to Washington State Community College. Marietta has a vibrant local culture, hosting the annual Sternwheel Festival and many other events, and the City’s location provides access to the excitement of Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
