For major, minor, certificate, and specialization requirements, as well as graduate program requirements, please see the applicable College Catalog.
NOTE: Most students will choose the catalog based on the year in which they first enrolled at Marietta College. However, students who add or change a major(s), minor(s), or specialization(s) must meet all requirements for the new program(s) as described in the most recently published catalog at the time the program addition or change is declared with the Records Office. Additionally, continuously enrolled students may choose to switch to a more current catalog that is in force during their time as a degree-seeking student at Marietta College for one or more declared programs.
Program Exceptions
Students who are unable to complete a published program requirement due to circumstances beyond their control may contact the program chair or director to discuss a potential exception.
- The most common program exceptions are course substitutions for which a rationale must be provided. The rationale must detail why the exception is necessary AND how the Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs) will be met with the approved alternate course.
- On rare occasion, a student may be granted a waiver for a specific required course. A valid waiver will include an explanation of how the requirement has otherwise been satisfied.
- Both substitutions and waivers may be submitted via submission of the applicable form below to the Records Office. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.

Please note: The above process applies only to exceptions within departmental majors, minors, certificates, or specializations. Exceptions to general education and other college-level degree requirements require petition to the Academic Standards Committee. Contact the Records Office at records@marietta.edu for information on the petition process.
